Order the coin or subscription today!
The Columbia forest is found in a series of mountain ranges located roughly 600 kilometres from the Pacific coast in southeastern British Columbia. It is the world's only inland temperate rainforest, and the only temperate rainforest where the majority of its moisture falls as snow instead of rain.

As the forest grows from the valley floors up to high mountain altitudes, it creates a variety of increasingly difficult growing conditions, and the western yew(Taxus brevifolia) is one of the few tree species that has mastered all of them.This highly-adaptive, slow-growing and long-lived tree is also one of the few coniferae species that does not have cones. Instead, the western yew produces individual seeds that are protected by fleshy, berry-like casings that look likered rubies sitting atop its slender twigs.

A beautiful gift for someone who enjoys unique forests! The design's foreground features a gently sloping twig that has been painstakingly enhanced in colour to immediately draw the eye to its ruby red fruit and slender, vibrant green needles. In the background, massive tree trunks and lush growth fill the remainder of the design.

Did you knowÉ
¥ There's a series of mountain rangesin southeastern British Columbia roughly 600 kilometres from the coast. Between their rugged peaks grows a forest that echoes the lush vegetation of the Pacific Northwest, but this forest is unique; it isthe world's only inland temperate rainforest that also receives most of its moisture as snow instead of rain.
¥ At lower elevations, massive trees, shrubs and a thick carpet of ferns and mosses cover the ground. As the elevation increases, colder temperatures and a deep blanket of lingering snow create a shorter, more challenging growing season that results in sparseand increasingly stunted growth until no plant or tree can grow.
¥ The western yew (Taxus brevifolia) is a slow-growing, long-lived tree that has mastered all of the Columbia forest's growing conditions-from the forest floor to its highest altitudes. It is also one of the few coniferae species that does not have seed cones. Instead, the western yew produces individual seeds that are protected by fleshy, berry-like casings that look like redrubies sitting atop its slender twigs.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0556/2872/6347/files/4596290_Full_Obv_eef87c4c-2cc6-476b-8d5f-31cd9293cebc.jpg?v=1717053113
https://jandmcoins.com/products/canada-silver-2015-d20-columbian-yew-tree-forests-of-canada-pf-1_009oz_-_9999
