Each year on November 11, Canada pauses to honour all who serve or have served our country in times of war and peace, and the annual Remembrance Day coin keeps that spirit of gratitude and remembrance alive year-round. The 2024 edition presents a stirring visual metaphor for the more than 2,300,000 who served in Canada’s military throughout its history, including the more than 118,000 who ultimately gave their lives.
The Design:
This heartfelt expression of Remembrance features a symbol of sacrifice that dates back to the First World War and endures today: the red poppy. Its reverse shows the red-petalled flower of Remembrance in various stages of bloom, from the poppy that proudly stands tall as a symbol of those who serve or have served, to the drooping one that pays respect to our fallen—those who are gone, but whose sacrifices will not be forgotten.
