Please organize your coins as follows before bringing them in (the details are for 'common' date and grade silver coins). There is no need to roll them if they are not already rolled, nor to put them in holders (although you may wish to do so for better dates/grades, if you know what to look for:
Canada:
10¢ and 25¢:
Please separate by face value if there is more than a couple of dollars worth...
-
1966 & earlier should go in one group
-
1967 (only) should go in a second group
-
1968 (non-magnetic only) should go in a third group
50¢ and $1.00 coins:
1967 & prior only. Note for dollars, anything prior to 1950 (except 1939) may be collectible if in good condition, and free from damage or problems.
Coins should never be cleaned.
United States:
-
1964 & prior (all face values) should go in one group per denomination (or face value)
-
1965-1969 (half-dollar coins only) should be separated from earlier half-dollar coins, and are reduced
silver content (still worth bringing in)
International:
Silver coins can be grouped together (by country would be helpful). If you know the silver contents, please feel free to group like-coins together, otherwise, by country only is fine.
Non-silver coins:
Canada: 1¢ and 5¢:
We purchase 1952 & prior. Please separate by monarch (king or queen).
USA: 1¢: Pre-1909 (large, and small), 1909 to 1958 5¢: Pre-1913, 1913-1937, 1942-1945 (these must have a letter above the Capitol dome on the back of the coin).
World:
Please place all "base metal" coins other than USA and Canada in one bag (do not include tokens, medallions, etc.). No need to sort by county.
