2014 Coin and Stamp set featuring the Edmonton Oilers.
This painted cupronickel coin has a diameter of 35 millimetres. The reverse design features a coloured team logo in colour captured within the NHL shield on a frosted background. The reverse features the word "CANADA," the date "2014," and the face value of "25 CENTS." The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
The Edmonton Oilers joined the NHL in 1979. Their dynastic success came early as they went on to win the Stanley Cup five times in the 1980s. Having hosted some of professional hockey's most renowned players, they were the first team with three players scoring 50 goals, the first team to score more than 400 goals a season for five consecutive years, and the team with the first player in the history of the league to score 200 points. Today, the Oilers look forward to contributing to the renewal of downtown Edmonton as that city builds a new arena to host its home team in one of Canada's great urban centres.
