2014 Coin and Stamp set featuring the Toronto Maple Leafs.
This painted cupronickel coin has a diameter of 35 millimetres. The reverse design features a coloured team logo in colour captured within the NHL shield on a frosted background. The reverse features the word "CANADA," the date "2014," and the face value of "25 CENTS." The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
The powerful and long-lasting rivalries in the Leafs' nearly 75-year-long lifespan are one of the most thrilling aspects of the team's history. When the Toronto Maple Leafs officially formed in 1927, the pre-expansion NHL teams played each other more than a dozen times each regular season, fighting for a few coveted playoff spots. It was natural that rivalries would evolve in these close quarters. The Leafs rivalries with the Boston Bruins in the 1930s, the Detroit Red Wings in the 40s and 50s, the Montreal Canadiens in the 1960s, and its present-day Battle of Ontario with the Ottawa Senators have made Toronto games some of the most intense and exciting in league history.
