To many First Nations tribes, the moon is a sacred symbol. Because it brightens the darkness and rules the tides, the moon is seen as a powerful protector, grandmother, and matron of the earth. First Nations often carved masks to express the intimate relationship between nature and people-such as the Grandmother Moon, artist Richard Cochrane's interpretation of the moon smiling down at him and onto the earth.
The Royal Canadian Mint has recreated the Grandmother Moon mask in ultra high relief totranslate this beautiful hand-carved mask into a pure gold coin. With an extremely low mintage of only 500 coins, ensure you order yours today!
Special features:
¥ This incredibly detailed coin recreates the wood grain of the Red Cedar that was used to carve the actual wooden moon mask.
¥ Your coin is our second ultra high relief coin using 99.999% fine gold.
¥ Created using a minting techniqueusually found only in Medallic art.
¥ EXTREMELY LOW MINTAGE of only 500 coins.

The reverse also features the word "CANADA," the date "2013," and the face value of "200 DOLLARS."
