Design:
Canadian artist Pierre Leduc presents the engraved full face portrait of a polar bear against the background of a frozen, wind-swept, snow-crusted environment stretching out to the horizon. The artist's image details to stunning effect the polar bear's small ears, fur-ringed eyes and thick fur. Its distinctive black nose and eyes stand out in sharp contrast to its shaggy light-coloured body. Your coin's design presents an outer polished border framing the entire image within an inner field.
The reverse also features a stylized polar bear paw print and the engraved word "CANADA," the date "2013,"and the face value of "5 DOLLARS."
