Third coin in a unique 3-coin gold series, order yours today!
Canada's three natural realms of land, sky, and sea mingle in a landscape of unmatched grandeur. Similarly, its people-First Nations and modern inhabitants alike-though culturally distinct, overlap within this landscape in a unique experience ofshared history and nationhood. The Royal Canadian Mint proudly presents the third coin in its series of1/2-ounce gold coins celebrating this interconnectedness through the stunning artwork of West Coast artist Andy Everson.
The Interconnections series celebrates the relationship between Canada's three natural realms: land, sky, and sea. This third release, dedicated to "Sea", adopts an orca as its central motif while ingeniously incorporating the cycle of the ocean tides into its design. The smiling orca-a powerful symbol of family for the peoples of the Pacific Northwest-is encircled by the rim of the moon. The moon is invoked for its inextricablelink with the orca's ocean home, which is represented by the undulating and bubble shapes that surround the orca. The sea, surrounding Canada on its eastern, western, and northern borders, is a definingelement of not only Canadian culture but the culture and heritage of Emerson's ancestors, who lived their lives on and near the Pacific. Like moon andtide, sea and land, each element of the design blends into the next.
The Interconnections series celebrates the relationship between Canada's three natural realms: land, sky, and sea. A beautiful gift for someone who enjoys First Nations art! Order yours today!

Coin design:
Designed by Canadian artist Andy Everson, your coin presents the theme of "Sea". Its central motif is an orca, stylized in the tradition of Everson's K' moks and Kwakwaka'wakw ancestors. This image is framed by a circle representing the rim of the moon. Surrounding the inner circle is a stylized depiction of gently moving water-the domain of the orca, whose tides and movement lie in thrall to the power of the moon.
It is highly fitting that an artist representative of thetraditional guardians of Vancouver Island's eastern "Land of Plenty" would design a series celebrating the connection between land, sea, air, and the people whose lives overlap within this environment. Andy (Na_gedzi) Everson is a member of British Columbia's K' moks First Nation. Through dance, drumming, andart, Everson honours the traditions of his K' moks and Kwakwaka'wakw ancestors. Hehas travelled internationally as a ceremonial dancer, sharing First Nations traditions. It was through ceremonial dance that Everson began his first serious forays into art, designing pieces for potlatches.
Today, he is known for his bold, eye-catching, and thought-provoking designs that often meld traditionalmotifs with references from popular culture.
