Design:
Designed by artist Dave Melnychuk, your pysanka-themed design is an eternal blessing for all Canadians, represented by a wooden temple that is a welcoming symbol of community. Several bands representing eternityframe the multi-tiered church. An inner band of dots and waves reflect Canada's motto, "A Mari Usque Ad Mare" ("From Sea to Sea"). On the outer band, compass-like stars are paired with upended squares that represent the earth. The face value "250 DOLLARS", the year "2019" and the word "CANADA" are engraved in a font reminiscent of traditional carvings. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
Did you knowÃ
Across many cultures, the egg is a symbol of spring, rebirth and nature's re-awakening.
Colour adds symbolism, with yellow signifying light and love. But for this pysanka, we've opted for an all-gold design to place the focus onthe ornate art. The style is reminiscent of the famous gold artefacts of the Scythians, a nomadic people who once inhabited regions along the Black Sea coast, in present-day Ukraine and Russia.
