The final coin in our 99.99% pure gold centennialtribute to Alex Colville features the artist's most well-known numismatic design: Canada's "rock dove" one-cent circulation coin. The Colville-designed image of a bird in flight made the 1967 Canadian penny stand out from those issued in other years, when the piece featured either amaple leaf wreath (1858-1920), two maple leaves (1920-1936) or a maple twig (1937-2012).
