Anyone who has witnessed a bird of prey circling high above an open field has likely seen a red-tailed hawk, the most widespread hawk in North America.
A variety of bullion coins and bars are available to purchase through select dealers. The retail price of bullion products is based on the international gold, silver and platinum market prices, which vary daily. Bullion coins do not have any fixed mintage unless otherwise stated.

This hawk is usually best identified by its brick-red tail, but take care, there are many colour variations. Plus, the hawk's short, wide tail can appear almost transparent when viewed from below, and juveniles have darker colouring.
The red-tailed hawk hunts small animals and reptiles from above, sometimes swooping down on birds. One of its greatest strengths is its ability to adapt and exploit rapidly changing environments. Red-tailed hawks can be seen perched on fence posts, trees and hydro poles bordering agricultural fields where they survey the landscape for a meal-an ecological form of rodent control that farmers now readily embrace.
Those who have never seen a red-tail will certainly have heard its call. Its high-pitched kree-eee-ar has long been an iconic sound in Western and adventure movies, although the sound is usually paired with a different species (the bald eagle) on-screen.
