The foliated green man is just one of thousands ofpieces of art to be found on Parliament Hill-one of the greatest examples of Gothic Revival architecture in the world. Discovered in the East Block, this fantastical creature was interpreted by Dominion Sculptor Phillip White, who was consulted extensively by Mint engravers as they created this coin. The result is an exceptional work of art with ultra-high relief that honours the original techniques used to create the historic stone carving.

A unique gift to your collection of Canadian, historical, or artistic themes. Order today!

Special features:
Second in the three-coin series featuring a carved image from the East Block of Parliament, reinterpreted by Dominion Sculptor Phillip White, in ultra-high relief. Canadian sculptor and art conservator Phillip White has been Canada's official Dominion Sculptor since 2006.
The coin's ultra-high relief profile lends dramatic depth to the image. Royal Canadian Mint engravers worked closely with the Dominion Sculptor to interpret the designs, including reviewing the tools and techniques that would have been used to carve this type of art in stone. Each coin has been carefully crafted to remain faithful to those original techniques.
A low mintage of only 4,000 of each coin means this series is sure to be sought after by collectors.
Your coin is GST/HST exempt.

Design:
Engraved in ultra-high relief, the coin features an original depiction by Dominion Sculptor Phillip White of a Gothic-style grotesque interpreted from a carving found on the East Block of the Parliament Buildings. The image portrays a Green man disgorging stylized "stiff-leaf" foliage from its mouth. The staring figure's brows and hair are also composed of whirling, stylized leaves and stems.
