Design:
The reverse design by Three Degrees Creative Group is bothvisually compelling and richly symbolic, with a thoughtful melding of traditional and contemporary design elements. In the background, a beautifully engraved lotus pattern fills the reverse in a modern take on the blooms that traditionally symbolize purityof the heart and mind. A majestic, mid-relief dragon is brought to life through intricate engraving that recreates it in extraordinary detail; its presence also carries a strong meaning, as the dragon is a time-honoured symbol of power, strength and good luck in Asian mythology. Above it, a traditional circular motif bears a Swarovski ¨ crystal embellishment that represents emerald, the birthstone for May, which is said to bring happiness and fertility to those born in the month.
"Emerald" is from the Greek word smaragdus, which means "green."
Emerald was mined in Ancient Egypt but today, it is mined in Colombia, Brazil, Afghanistan and Zambia.
It is the traditional and modern gift for those celebrating a 55th wedding anniversary.
Prized for its mesmerizing green colour, the emerald isone of the most valuable gems in the world and alsoone of its rarest. As the birthstone for the flowering month of May, it is a symbol of rebirth and love and is believed to bring foresight, fortune, happiness and fertility.
