FIRST COIN IN NEW SERIES! Selective gold plating highlights marine life along Canada's coastline! Order today!
The sandy beaches, rocky shorelines and tide poolsof Atlantic Canada provide a habitat for some of the most intriguing ocean-dwellers-including the starfish, or sea star (Asterias rubens). This aptly named creature has fivearms reaching out from its centre; small white spines line the top of each arm to provide it with a measure of protective armour, while tiny tubular feetallow it to feed and move along the gravelly oceanfloor. Feeding on invertebrates, the starfish blends in with its surroundings thanks to its unique colouring, which only adds to the surreal beauty of this incredible creature.

Design:
Designed by Canadian artist Tony Bianco, yourcoin is a unique glimpse of Atlantic Canada'scoastal waters. Beneath the engraved word "CANADA" stands a lighthouse on the rocky shoreline, where the sentinel was often the first sign of land to many travelling by sea. The crashing wave infuses the reverse with a sense of sweeping motion while transitioning to the underwater realm, where anoutstanding amount of engraved details recreate anocean floor littered with shells and dotted with coral. The use of selective gold plating draws the eye to the two starfish, while providing an enhanced view of their defining characteristics. Against the silver background, the gold plating truly shines asit highlights the rough and spiny appearance of the five-armed ocean-dwellers, and adds a life-like sense of texture and dimension to this idyllic aquatic setting.
