Design:
Your $1 99.99% pure silver coin weighs 10 ounces and has a diameter of 60 millimetres. Designed by the Royal Canadian Mint R&D Lab, it applies new technology to create a coin that features multiple unique traits. The piedfort style of thecoin receives a whole new treatment with a concave shape on both sides of the coin. The total curvatureof each side is 6.3 millimetres and the edge thickness is over 16 millimetres-which makes it even thicker than our 1 kilogram coins. The 11-sidedcircumference and reverse design are taken from Canada's 1-dollar circulation coin, the Loonie. Robert Ralph Carmichael's iconic image presents a stylized common loon floating past an island on a lake. The reverse features the text "CANADA" and "DOLLAR" and the date "2018". The coin's obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II against a repeating field of concentric maple leaves.
