Clever, cute and curious, the sea otter's playful antics endear it to watchers on Canada's Pacific coast. This furry weasel loves to eat, sleep, play, and groom while floating on its back. Whether diving under the waves or wrapping itself in kelp to stay in place, an otter is resourceful but prefers tospend time in a group, even holding paws as they quietly drift off to sleep. The sun sets on our Canadian Fauna series, which concludes with a loving image of a creature cuddle at sea. Tucked into their kelp "bed" for the night, these sea otters enjoy a closeness that helps them weather life's ups and downs-it's a show of affection and warmth to which we can all relate.

Design:
Designed by W. Allan Hancock, your coin features two sea otters (Enhydra lutris) in a sweeping ocean setting. The cuddling animals have wrapped themselves in kelp to keep from drifting while they sleep. Meanwhile, a dramatic sunset colours the clouds and sky above Canada's Pacific coast. Thereverse includes the year "2019" and the word "CANADA" struck incuse. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
