Design:
Designed by artist Virginia Boulay, the reverse celebrates a Canadian emblem through its depiction of a sugar maple (Acer saccharum) branch with five leaves. The reverse includes the curve text "CANADA" above a maple flourish and the year "2020". The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Aside from the one featured on our national flag, the maple leaf isn't an official symbol of CanadaÃbut the maple tree is. Acer, the generic maple species, was recognized as Canada's arboreal emblem in 1996.
