Two obverse were used from 1953-1964, the "no shoulder fold" and the "shoulder fold". In 1965, a new obverse with a more mature facial feature and wearing a tiara was introduced. A reverse design of a mackerel was used for the centennial of Confederation in 1967. During 1968, the use of silver was discontinued and nickel was used in its place.
