In 1902, with the coronation of Edward VII, the Royal Mint was extremely busy creating new coins. The word "CANADA" was transferred from the obverse to the reverse legend. The crown of St. Edward was supposed to be replaced with the Imperial State crown but due to the lack of time at the Royal Mint, this change was incorporated in 1903.
